NIC Releases Report To Help Veterans Behind Bars

The National Institute of Corrections (NIC) recently released “Barracks Behind Bars II: In Veteran-Specific Housing Units, Veterans Help Veterans Help Themselves,” which highlights programs in prisons that work to improve outcomes for justice-involved veterans.

The goal, says NIC, is to increase safety for law enforcement officers, correctional officers, inmates, and the public. The paper outlines the design and development, implementation, and sustainment initiatives taken by corrections officials who have set up specialized housing and programming for military veterans.
